The ClimAIr project is developing a user-friendly, web-based platform to better understand and address the health impacts of air pollution and climate change. A new ClimAIr report outlines the initial requirements and design approach for this tool, establishing the basis for an Integrated Decision Support System (IDSS) that will enable evidence-based insights on respiratory disease risks and support knowledgeable decision-making across sectors.

In ClimAIr, data protection is not something added at the end, it is the starting point. The entire system is designed to enable advanced AI training while ensuring that sensitive medical information remains under the full control of healthcare providers.

One year into the project, the ClimAIr consortium met in Istanbul to review progress and coordinate the next phase of research on air pollution, climate change and health.

This report developed within the ClimAIr project brings together current evidence on the short-term effects of outdoor air pollution on allergic rhinitis. By reviewing published epidemiological studies conducted in different geographical settings and population groups, it describes how variations in ambient air quality are associated with symptom control and healthcare use. The report supports ongoing scientific efforts to better understand the links between air pollution, climate-related factors, and airway allergic diseases.

The ClimAIr project has launched its official newsletter, a new channel designed to keep stakeholders informed about the project’s progress, key developments, and available resources related to climate change, air pollution, and respiratory health. The newsletter offers readers a curated overview of the project’s activities and results to date, providing accessible and up-to-date information for policymakers, healthcare professionals, researchers, urban planners, environmental organisations, and other stakeholders interested in reducing pollution-related health risks.

This new report from the ClimAIr project marks a significant milestone in advancing our understanding of how environmental factors shape airway allergy outcomes. Focused on developing consensus definitions for single and multipollutant exposures, pollen, and climate conditions, this report provides a standardised framework for categorising patients. By harmonising these definitions, it creates a foundation for both clinical applications and AI-driven research, ultimately contributing to more precise strategies for preventing and managing respiratory diseases such as allergic rhinitis (AR) and asthma.

ClimAIr consortium partners recently convened in Munich, Germany, for the Month 6 General Assembly meeting—a key milestone marking the first half-year of project activities.
